The SugarLoaf Cafe & Nightingale Camp Ground

About
Just 45 minutes from Palm Springs, Sugarloaf Café & Campground offered a refreshing escape from the desert heat, nestled in the cooler elevations of Highway 74. Specializing in classic American comfort food, barbecue, and house-made pies, the café served as a welcoming stop for travelers, hikers, and locals looking for a place to refuel and recharge.
During the pandemic, Sugarloaf Café became an unexpected travel destination, attracting car meetups, hikers, and families looking for a safe way to enjoy the outdoors. Guests picked up food to go, walked the scenic property, or made a stop before heading deeper into the San Bernardino National Forest.
History
Established in 1937.
We kept the historic name, and reinvented the Sugarloaf Cafe and Market. This location has served the community for an entire decade, originally built to feed and house the workers who built the highway 74 outside. We keep recipes simple and always make everything from scratch, out of the love we have for our kitchen and our patrons. We are a women owned business, and employ locals and big city expats alike to produce quality meals paired with an excellent selection of female produced wines and craft beers. Vegans welcome, meat eaters and veggies too.
